:: Dance 10::
Katherine was getting thinner and thinner as the days flew pass. She had returned to David’s dancing studio. Everyone was shocked when they saw her. She looked different and her dancing skills seemed to have deteriorated. Also, everyone was talking about the new couple, Daren and Josephine. Madeline knew Josephine had snatched Daren away from Katherine somehow and it was them that caused her to change so drastically. Madeline grew to pity Katherine and offered to hang out with her. Other dancers also seem to be doing the same thing. The enmity between them seemed to have vanished into thin air. However, there were also a few who supported Josephine. David could only look at Katherine change bit by bit everyday and there’s nothing he can do. There’s nothing anyone can do…

“Let’s go shopping later!” Wendy linked arms with Katherine and suggested. Katherine nodded her head. Josephine strutted over with Daren and smirked. “You’re blocking our way.” Wendy snapped unhappily. She glanced at Katherine nervously. She knew that Katherine would definitely feel upset. “Oh is it? I didn’t notice.” Josephine replied, still rooted to where she was standing. Wendy was no fool. She knew that Josephine did not intend to shift her body. Katherine is starting to look at Josephine murderously. The three of them stared hard at each other. Daren cleared his throat and shifted his feet so that Katherine and Wendy could walk pass. When they were gone, the smile on Josephine’s lips vanished. “Why did you let her pass?” Josephine snapped.
“Why are you picking on Kat?”
“Don’t think I don’t know! Your body might be with me, but your thoughts are still on her!”
“Then why did you still…”
“I don’t care! You better forget about her! All you can think of now is me and only me!” Josephine hissed into Daren’s ear. Daren remained quiet and Josephine smiled, satisfied.

Katherine slammed her locker shut and started walking. “Wait up!” Wendy rushed out of the locker room behind Katherine. “What do you want to do first? Shop? Eat? Catch the latest movie?” Wendy continued. “Shop.” Katherine replied simply.

Katherine grabbed the make ups off the shelf and threw them into basket she was carrying. “Is Kat gonna buy everything?” Wendy wondered as she compared the tubes of lip gloss. “Are you done yet?” Katherine walked over with her basket almost full. “Err… Yeah.” Wendy glanced at Katherine’s basket and replied. If they don’t get out of this shop soon, Katherine is likely to buy more stuff! Katherine handed a credit card to the cashier and they walked out of the shop and into another one.

Meanwhile at home, Daren is drowning himself in liquor. He downed a cup of whisky and poured himself another cup. Just then, Katherine walked into the house loaded with shopping bags. Daren swung his body around and saw Katherine. “Why are you home this late?” Daren stood up and walked over. “It’s none of your business.” Katherine walked past Daren and went up the stairs. Daren followed closely behind her. “Tell me where you’ve been!” Daren placed his hand on Katherine’s door. “Shift your hand!” Katherine tried with all her might to close the door. Daren let go of the door and walked into her room. “Please go out.” Katherine forced herself to sound as cold as possible. Daren grunted and pinned Katherine to the bed. “Tell me where you’ve been! Why are you home so late! Don’t you know that it’s dangerous!”
“Why do you even care!” Katherine struggled to sit up.
Daren blinked his eyes blankly. She’s right… Why do I even care…
“Who are you to me!” Katherine continued.
Who am I to her? I’m in no position to question her… Daren’s grip on Katherine was loosening and Katherine pushed him away. “I’m sorry.” Daren said simply. “I really don’t know what else I can say except sorry…” Katherine’s mind seemed to break down at once. “Don’t say sorry… Don’t leave me alone… I don’t want to be left alone…” Katherine sobbed. Daren hugged Katherine tightly. “I’m sorry… I’m sorry…” Katherine cried even harder. “I love you…” Daren whispered into her ear. “I love you…” They crossed the border that night…

Katherine woke up to find herself alone in her bedroom. She covered herself with her duvet and picked up her clothes that were on the floor. Katherine blushed as she thought of what happened last night. Just then, a knock came on her door. “Are you awake?” It was Daren outside the door. Katherine opened the door happily. “Daren…” She leaped into Daren’s arms. Daren pushed her away. “It’s time for breakfast.” Dare said coldly.
“Daren?”
“Hmm?”
“Why are you… Why are you so cold?”
“Kat… Look, last night… It was a mistake. I had too much to drink. I’m… I’m sorry okay?”
Katherine shook her head in disbelief. “You’re kidding right? Tell me you are!”
“I’m sorry.” Daren said and walked out of her room, closing the door gently behind him. Thoughts filled Daren’s head as he walked down the stairs. Last night wasn’t suppose to happen. He was drunk. But the damage has been done. He knew he had hurt Katherine very deeply again…

Katherine showered and dressed as usual. It was like nothing had happen at all. No tears, nothing. Katherine started applying make up onto her face. She had been picked up from hell and into heaven. And the very next minute, she was back in hell. The make up she had on today was thicker than usual. She sprayed herself with strong smelling perfume before leaving for the dining room.

There was only Daren and Katherine at the dining table. Mrs Kang had left for Sydney yesterday morning with a few of her friends. They would be gone for at least a week. “I will not be going to David’s studio today because I will be recording my album.” Daren said as he stood up. “I’ll be back late.” Katherine remained silent and continued to eat her cereal. Daren turned to take one last look at Katherine before walking towards his car. Katherine continued to stuff cereal into her mouth. Daren had noticed the difference immediately when Katherine walked down this morning. Her make up was thinker and she had on perfume. Was she trying to use these to cover her real emotions? Or does she really feel nothing?
