Chapter 15
Wilson’s mind seem to be blank, not knowing what reaction he should give. “Don’t get me wrong. She could’ve left me there, but she chose to stay behind. I could not possibly leave her in the lurch after her decision.” Jun Wei studied Wilson’s face carefully, not letting any emotion shown on Wilson’s face slip away unnoticed. “I see…” Wilson’s voice sounded hoarse. Jun Wei sighed as he stood up. He really loves Joyce. It’s obvious. “I’m tired. If there’s nothing else would you please leave?” Jun Wei held open the door. Wilson shuffled out of Jun Wei’s ward feeling weary. “She chose to stay behind.” Could it be that she still has feelings for Jun Wei? Wilson hung his head low as he continued walking. BAM! Wilson knocked into a old man and caused him to fall. “Are you alright, mister? Are you hurt anywhere?” Wilson bent down immediately and helped the man up. The man shook his head and smiled. “Young lad, if you love her, then trust her.” Wilson tilted his head slightly as he watch the man walk away and disappear behind the corner.

----------

“I’ll go to the counter to get your bills settled.” Joyce said. Wilson smiled as he watch Joyce walk out. The man he met that night was right. If he truly love Joyce, then he should believe in her. Nobody would leave their friends and run for their lives. It applies to even himself, Joyce is no exception. But… Who is that man? He has been walking around the whole hospital in search of that man but to no avail. The man seem to have disappeared into thin air. Unless of course, the man was discharged in the middle of the night. “Let’s go.” Joyce smiled brightly as she picked up Wilson’s bag. “I’ll carry it myself.” Wilson reached for his bag. “It’s the duty of a girlfriend to carry heavy bags for injured boyfriends.” Joyce winked at Wilson cheekily.

----------

“It feels good to be back home!” Wilson jumped into his couch. Joyce placed his bag on the table and walked into the kitchen. “Water or juice?” She poked her head out and asked. “Coffee please.” Wilson stood up and walked over. “No coffee!” Joyce shouted and snatched the packet of coffee mix. “It’s bad for your stomach!” Joyce stuck out her tongue and placed the coffee mix behind her, out of Wilson’s reach. “But I want coffee!” Wilson reached his hand towards Joyce. Joyce squealed and ran to the other side of the table. “I~ Want~ COFFEEEEEE~” Wilson followed her to the other side of the table and grabbed at the packet. “MISSED!” Joyce grinned and shouted loudly into Wilson’s face. “And absolutely NO COFFEE!” Joyce pulled open the window and flung the coffee mix out of the window. “Wait…” Wilson dashed to the window just in time to see the packet disappear.

“How can you throw a packet of coffee mix out? It might hit someone!” Wilson exclaimed and turn around to look at Joyce unbelievably. “Heh hehs… It’s for your own good…” Joyce smiled sheepishly. Wilson continued to look at Joyce. “Wipe that look off your face. At most… I’ll buy you another packet when you’re better.” Joyce inched backwards. Should I run? Joyce debated with herself for a second before she finally made her decision. She snatched up her bag from the table quickly and ran. “I’ll visit you again!” She dashed to the door and had her hands on the handle when Wilson grabbed her from behind. “Not so fast. Not after you threw out my coffee…”

Wilson pulled Joyce back into the flat and pinned her onto the couch. “I want… Coffee…” Wilson leaned against Joyce and whispered into her ear. “Coffee…” Joyce giggled and tried to push Wilson away. “It tickles! Stop!” Joyce screamed her throat dry. “Don’t scream, it’ll hurt your throat.” Wilson grinned as he look at Joyce mischievously. “Your heavy… Let go…” Joyce tried to push Wilson again. “Okay.” Wilson let go of both his hands which supported him and lay still on top of Joyce. “Ahh!” Joyce shouted at the sudden weight. “It hurts… Get off!” Joyce hollered with the little strength she have left. Wilson looked up to see a tear roll down Joyce’s cheek. “Oh my…” He got up immediately and helped Joyce up. “Did I hurt you? Where are you hurting?” He looked at Joyce anxiously. Joyce started wailing loudly, startling Wilson. “Hush, don’t cry. Don’t cry. It’s all my fault.” Wilson hugged Joyce gently. Joyce grinned as she continued to fake her wails. Suddenly, she bite into Wilson’s shoulder. “Ouch!” Wilson jumped up and reached a hand to where he was bitten. Grabbing hold of the chance, Joyce once again dashed for the door.

Having ran out to the streets, Joyce slowed down and started walking. What beautiful weather! Joyce grinned happily as she walked down the street. Suddenly, Joyce could feel someone pulling on her bag. She turned around sharply to see a man tugging at her bag. The man pulled her bag and pushed her to the floor. “Don’t run!” Joyce stood up and ran after the thief. Wilson ran out of the building in time to see Joyce running after a man. “Joyce! What’s happening?” Joyce pointed to the man. “Thief…” She said in between gasps. “Stay here, I’ll go after him.” Wilson sat Joyce on the steps and raced after the man at full speed.

“Stop! Don’t you dare run!” Wilson jumped at the man and pushed him to the corner. “Why run so fast? We’re not in a marathon yeah.” Wilson took Joyce’s bag from the man and prepared to walk away when the man punched him. “Gimme the bag!” The man pulled at Joyce’s bag. Wilson wiped off the blood and glared at the man. “I hate it when others punch my face.” The man ignored him and aimed another punch at Wilson’s face. Just as the punch was about to soar into Wilson’s face, he received it with his free hand. “Let me say this one last time. I hate it when others punch my face.” He closed his hand tightly around the man’s and started to apply force. The man’s face grew distorted with agony. “Is this all you’ve got? How weak.” Wilson let go of the man’s hand and walked off, leaving him in pain.

“Here.” Wilson handed the bag back to Joyce. “See, you can’t live without me.” Wilson said cheekily. “I want a kiss as my reward.” He turned his head for the kiss. “A reward for getting my bag back.” Joyce stood on tip toes and kissed Wilson. “But you’re not to go after thieves anymore. It’s dangerous!” Joyce fingered the wound on the corner of Wilson’s lip. “Anything is okay, as long as it’s for you.” Wilson smiled and squatted down in front of Joyce. “I’ll piggyback ride you.” Joyce laughed as she got on. “Make sure you hold on tightly!” Wilson ran down the street with Joyce on his back. This minute, they seem to be one complete body instead of two separate ones.
