Howl 5“Little girl, do you know how pretty you are?” A man stroked Rou’s face gently.
“Lemme go! I want Madam!” Rou cried.
“It’s probably incest to make out with this little kid, but she’s just too cute to resist.” The other man said.
Rou started bawling as the two man closed in on her.
“You two! Stay away from my sister!” Xuan shouted angrily and charged over with Housekeeper Zhao behind him. Xuan easily fought the two man back with his black belt karate. “Don’t you dare mess with my sister, you hear me?!”
The two man ran off quickly, amazed and frightened at how the little boy could fight off two man who were double his size at the same time.
Rou ran into Xuan’s open arms and sobbed. “You must always be there to save me whenever I need you. Promise!”Lan Yi Rou stared at Skye in surprise.
Why is he so sensitive to my surname? Does he know who I am? “You’ve… Heard of me?” Rou asked cautiously.
“No.” Skye quickly returned to his bowl of rice. “I just find your surname unique, that’s all.”
The atmosphere became uneasy as both of them lowered their heads to eat. The lady laughed aloud and tried to restore the atmosphere which was lost. “Ahaha… Rou, you can call me Auntie May.”
Rou nodded her head. “Auntie May…”
“I’m full.” Skye stood up suddenly and hurriedly walk away.
“Skye? There’s still dessert…”
“No thanks. I’m a bit full tonight.” Skye turned slightly and sneaked a peek at Rou who had her back facing him. “I had too much to digest for tonight…”
Rou tossed and turned in her bed, the scene where Skye was shocked at her surname kept replaying in her mind.
No… I must be thinking too much. These villagers can’t possibly know about me. Rou sat upright in her bed.
I’ll go for a walk by the beach. The wind might do me some good.“Who is this Lan Yi Rou exactly? The daughter of Director Lan Yi? Not possible… How could she possibly be staying in a rundown inn at an unknown village? This isn’t possible…” Skye muttered to himself as he walked down the beach. Suddenly, his sharp ears picked up the sound of a women screaming. “What’s going on? Is it Old Wang again?” Skye ran towards the origin of the screaming…
“Let go of me! Help!” Rou screamed and tried to kick Old Wang off her. “Don’t touch me!” She was near hysterical.
“Old Wang, let go of her this very instant!” Skye shouted and pulled the man off Rou. “Old Wang, go home!”
The man named Old Wang looked at Rou and then back at Skye. Finally seeming to get the idea, he walked off, leaving Rou with Skye.
Rou held her knees close to her body, balling herself up. She was badly shaken by the man’s actions.
“Are you alright?” Skye reached a hand towards her.
“Don’t come near me!” Rou shouted and inched herself backwards. “Don’t…” Not noticing how close she was the end of the wooden box, Rou almost fell off. Skye quickly grabbed onto Rou’s hands and pulled her forward. Both of them fell onto the ground with Rou atop of Skye. “Are you alright?” Skye asked worriedly.
Rou blushed and quickly climbed off Skye. “Yeah. I’m alright…”
“You seemed pretty badly shaken. Come with me.” Skye pulled Rou off the ground and led her back to the inn.
Rou hesitated when Skye invited her into his room.
He might’ve saved me, but in his room alone with him is… Especially since I just met with such a terrifying incident… Rou’s thoughts ran wild. “Why are you standing at my door like a statue? Come in.” Skye pulled Rou into the room and closed the door behind her. Rou gasped when she was being pulled into the room. Skye and her were just inches from each other…
“Have a sit.” Skye pointed to the chairs. “I’ll be back shortly.”
Rou started to explore his room.
Such a tidy room… Xuan couldn’t even keep his own room tidy even when there are maids cleaning up after him. Rou started to giggle. Her gaze fell onto a pile of files and a laptop which was sited at one corner of the room.
“Just a few minutes and tea would be ready.” Skye’s voice rang out, startling Rou. She turned around and quickly went back to the chair. “Having tea in the middle of the night? Don’t you need to sleep?”
Skye laughed her question off. “I doubt you can still fall asleep after being… You know.”
Skye’s words came as a sarcastic remark and the good impression which he left on Rou disappeared just as quickly as it blossomed.
“I must be mad to even sit down and have tea with him!” Rou fumed as she burst out of Skye’s room. She ran all the way back to her room and slammed the door shut. “I must be mad!” Rou threw her pillows onto the floor angrily as she thought of their conversation earlier on while having tea.
“You know, I wonder why your parents called you Rou of all names. You’re nowhere near being gentle (rou).” Skye commented.
“The name Skye don’t really fit you either.” Rou retorted.
“Someone as perfect as me should have a name as great as Skye, no?” Skye struck a pose which he thought was very charismatic.
“Ungentlemanly and conceited freak.” Rou crossed her arms and pouted.
“At least I’m better off than you. Unwomanly and not gentle at all.” Skye pointed at Rou.
“You! You’re just plain conceited!” Rou slammed the teacup onto the table and stormed out of Skye’s room angrily.
“Yes. I must be mad.” Rou tried to cool herself off. “Insane…” Soon, she fell asleep while chanting to herself.

erm.. rather random chapter? but it did provide a lil bit of background information on Rou=D
haha Rou and Skye's relationship has just taken a step forward too. i wonder what next chapter will bring... -daydreams-
