Howl 10Lan Yi Rou smiled bitterly once she stepped into the house she has been living in for her whole life. The house which was just a building and not a home. Xuan walked down the stairs just as Rou walked into the living room. “Rou?!” he exclaimed as soon as she saw his sister. “What are you doing here?” Rou could only force a weak smile as reply. “You’re finally back home.”
“You’re finally back home.” Madam walked into the living room, looking as elegant and luxurious as she has always been. “My daughter is finally back to where she belongs.” Rou frowned whilst Xuan is still trying to understand the situation. “Rou, get that look off your face. I see living amongst those lowly educated has influenced you too much for your own good. You’re starting to smell like them already.” Madam laughed.
“How did you find me? I’m doing fine being a villager with those lowly educated people who knew so much more than me.” Rou smirked.
“Thanks to Xuan of course…”
Lan Yi Rou turned around sharply to look at her brother. He still had that blank look on his face. He shrugged and shook his head.
“I had his phone bugged. I knew he would call you.” Madam said nonchalantly.
Rou was fuming. She has reached her limits. “I told you that I’m not going to marry that Eric Lu, and I’m going to tell you again right now that you can dream on about getting me to marry him!”
“I’m not going to ask you to marry him.” Madam’s words shocked the siblings. “You will not marry Eric Lu.”
“The company has folded. It was but a front to fool us into believing that the company is still doing very well. I bet all Eric Lu wanted was our money so he can get his company to operate again. Foolish kid, but a very smart plan.” Madam explained. Rou shuddered at how Madam was acting. This isn’t how a mother should act and behave…
“We’ve decided on a few others. This time, we’ll let you choose who you want to be married to.” Madam continued on, not noticing the changes in Rou’s facial expression.
“Stop it. Stop it!” Rou exploded. She felt moisture in her eyes. “Stop forcing me to do things which I have no desire for! Stop trying to decide my future for me! Stop it!”
“Madam!” a servant came running into the living room. “Madam, a man who claims to be the Chairperson of Global International is demanding to…” before she could finish her sentence however, the man has barged into the living room.
“Skye?!” Rou stared at the man who has just barged in.
“Skye?” Madam eyed the young lad who is standing in front of her. “You are the Chairperson of Global International?” she doubted his words, for he looked far too young to be the chairperson of any company.
“I am Wang You Tian, the Chairperson of Global International.” Skye sat down on the couch and crossed his leg. There was a aura that could not the mistaken for. The aura of the upper-class people.
“May I know why you paid a visit to my place today?” Madam’s curiosity has been aroused. Rou seemed to know this Chairperson of Global International…
“I have came to ask for Rou’s hand in marriage.” Skye said simply. Rou was too shocked to speak and Madam was grinning happily. ‘So this is why she refused to get engaged to anyone else. She caught this big fish, my smart daughter…’ Madam’s sudden friendliness towards Skye made him feel thoroughly disgusted. ‘Pretentious witch. It is Rou’s misfortune to have someone like you as her mother.’ Skye rolled his eyes at Madam’s actions.
“Would you like to have tea with us? Rou, go get changed out of your… rags. Come down quickly!” Madam stood up and placed a hand on Skye’s shoulder. Skye immediately shrugged it off. “I’m leaving. So is Rou.” Skye turned to grab Rou’s hand and fled from the mansion.
“Chairperson of Global?” Rou questioned.
“Well… you’re the daughter of Director Lan Yi.” Skye changed gears and pulled the car into a driveway.
“Who are you exactly?! You are not Skye…” Rou shook her head. “Skye did not wear expensive suits… Skye did not drive imported cars…”
“I’m am Wang You Tian, Chairperson of Global, as I have introduced earlier. Only people close to me call me Skye.” Skye stopped the car gently and turned to look at Rou.
“What is your motive for coming close to me? Benefits for your company?”
“You know that Global is so much larger and stronger… plus, you were the one who stepped into my territory first. It was you who made me fall in love with you…” Skye tried to embrace Rou, but got pushed away.
“I’m not listening to your nonsense.”
“You can’t leave as yet! Not after you took my heart away!”
“Why are you at the fishing village? Was it planned beforehand? To get close to me?”
“Rou, please just listen to me. How on earth will I know that you’ll be coming to this village? I was merely there for my well deserved break after slogging so hard for the company. Our meeting was predestined.” Skye explained. Rou finally seemed to have calmed down slightly and was willing to listen to Skye. “I’ll explain everything to you…”
“I have been orphaned since young. Being robbed of love that a normal kid my age should be enjoying, I distanced myself away from the crowd. I was jealous of them. Everyone has parents. Where are my parents?” Skye appeared serious. As much as Rou hates to admit it, Skye looked charming when he’s serious. Especially since he is now dressed in a suit. “Slowly, the crowd seemed to have forgotten me and I have forgotten the crowd. I lived in my own world, where I was the only person in that world. Not soon after I got sent to an orphanage, and for the first time, I felt that I was not alone. Everyone else there did not enjoy parental love…”
