Chapter 19: Deadly Poison
Junsu was into the last verse when he heard a female voice singing along. Ri In’s voice. Ecstatic, Junsu turned around happily and grinned at his wife. Ri In returned the smile and sat down, playing the last verse alongside Junsu. The last note lingered in the air as they pressed down on the keys lightly. Ri In was filled with satisfaction. This was by far the best she had played. “Ri In…” Junsu’s voice called softly. Ri In turned to look at him. “What is the name of this song?”
“Timeless.” Ri In said simply, leaning against Junsu slightly.
“Timeless…” Junsu echoed. “Timeless…”

“Is the red bean paste okay?” Junsu supported his chin on his hands. Ri In nodded her head as she consumed another spoonful of the dessert she adores ever since young. Ri In was about to deliver another spoonful to her mouth when she remembered Hee Bon. Junsu look at Ri In in curiosity as she lowered her spoon. “Junsu, do you not remember… Hee Bon?” Ri In asked carefully.
“Hee Bon?” Junsu thought for a moment. The name sounded familiar, but he doesn’t recall knowing anyone by that name. Though filled with uncertainty, Junsu shook his head. Ri In sighed and returned to her red ban paste without uttering another word. ‘Perhaps I should forget about it. He doesn’t remember anything now…’

“Ri In, do you want to learn how to drive?” Junsu asked suddenly. “I see you’re always walking. If you learn to drive you’ll have easier access to places.” actually, as Junsu said those words, what was running through his mind was ‘If you learn how to drive, you’ll be able to arrive home faster.’
“Learn driving?” Ri In nearly dropped the magazine she was reading. “A clumsy person like me, driving on the roads?”
“Driving will teach you how to remain focused and attentive. Plus, it’s a skill you can do with. I can get you a private instructor.” Junsu tried to coax her into taking up his offer. Slowly, Ri In nodded her head in consent. “But if I destroy anything, I’m not going to be responsible for it!”

Jaejoong pulled the mask which he was wearing higher. He has been waiting since an hour ago and his target still hasn’t appeared. Crouched in the shadows, his feet was slowly turning numb. Another long string of curses spilled out of his mouth as he glanced at his watch. Suddenly, his sensitive hearing made him look up. True enough, the target he has been long waiting for finally stepped out of the building. Making sure he was silent, Jaejoong trailed behind the man, awaiting the right opportunity. Just as he was about to strike, he saw the man collapsing with a loud ‘thud’. Widening his eyes, he saw a girl walking nearer to the man, bending over to check for signs of breathing.

Jaejoong sat in his car, amused. The target he has waited for the whole night died under another’s hand. A female, at that. Her face flashed through his mind again. She wasn’t wearing any mask or sunglasses to cover her face. Her big almond-shaped eyes stood out against her fair complexion. “Just like me. Bestowed with a pretty face.” Jaejoong’s lips arched into a tiny smile as he pulled his car out of the parking lot. Lying in the passenger seat beside him was a poisoned arrow he picked up from the man's body.

“U-know?” Jaejoong spoke into his blue tooth headset. “I have something I need you to inspect for me. A poison-filled arrow.”
“Hero?“ the person on the other line sounded blurry. It seems that Jaejoong has just interrupted his sleep. “Come over then.” the man grunted. Jaejoong hung up and laughed. He has a feeling that he will find a very pissed off doctor attending to his patients tomorrow.

“Kim JS has gone to bed with his wife whilst Kim JJ is not home yet. It appears that he accepted another case. I understand. Yes. I will be careful.” slinking in one of the corridors of Junsu’s house, a shadow pocketed her mobile phone and rushed off.

Jaejoong crossed his arms as Yunho extracted the poison carefully from the arrow. “I want the results by today. Is it possible?”
“It’s not impossible if I stay up for the rest of tonight.” Yunho sent the test tube into one of his machines. “I know I shouldn’t be discussing about private affairs while at work, but Ri In came this afternoon.”
“Ri In?” Jaejoong sat up in his chair. “Why was she here?”
“TaeYeon told her about Hee Bon. I can never understand that girl. Why would she tell Ri In that she was the one who sent people to gang rape Hee Bon?”
Jaejoong twirled a strand of his shoulder length blonde hair, deep in his thoughts. “Ri In doesn’t know about anything else, does she?”
“I don’t think so. I only brought her to Hee Bon’s ward, not to this underground lab or the other rooms.” Yunho tapped away at the keyboard. Relief washed over Jaejoong, but his eyebrows remained closely knitted together.

“Here.” Yunho passed the result of his hard work to Jaejoong. “This poison is as you can see, deadly and powerful. It can kill people in a matter of seconds and there is currently no antidote. The poison seeps through the body and starts a very cruel process of melting the insides of a person. I cannot imagine who invented such a thing.” Yunho shook his head.
“Deadly poison… looks like I have to be on my guards now. We all have to be.” the image of the lady appeared in Jaejoong’s mind again. “A lady using such lethal weapon… Max will have to do some research about this.” Jaejoong said as he picked up his mobile phone.

Ri In turned to her sides to look at Junsu who is lying peacefully beside her. The moonlight beating down on his face made it look pale and lifeless. “Junsu… what have you gone through exactly to make you forget entirely about Hee Bon? Why is it that you can’t recall Hee Bon? Why only her?” Ri In whispered as she stroked Junsu’s face lightly.
