Chapter 21: Showdown“I think I have been discovered!” Hye Jin spoke into her phone in a rush.
“Why?! How did it happen? The plan was perfect!”
“I…” before Hye Jin could continue her sentence, her phone was snatched over.
“Your little spy here made a grave mistake of attempting to drug or poison my brother, his wife, and my best friend cum business partner.” Jaejoong said calmly into the receiver.
“You are…” the girl on the other side of the line sounded flustered.
“Hero. And if my guess is not wrong, you’re… Oxygenie.”
Smirking, Jaejoong pointed his gun towards Hye Jin. Bounded by the ropes, she could only struggle as they wait for Genie to arrive. “How did you find out?!” Hye Jin shouted.
“By hacking into your gang’s little database. Shouldn’t you know us well by now? Much as I can’t bear to, but you’re still a spy… I can’t imagine you’ve been working undercover for 2 years…” Jaejoong felt emptiness within him. Even a servant whom they trusted so much turns out to be a spy planted in their house.
“Let my people go right now, Hero!” a voice shouted from afar and the figure of a girl running into the dark alley could be seen.
“Finally here…”
Tucking the blanket tightly around Ri In, Junsu sighed. Jaejoong just called to tell him of a sudden request that he needs help with. “What request could he possibly need help for? He’s an Ace Killer too…” Junsu planted a kiss on Ri In’s forehead and walked out of the room towards another. Unlocking the door, Junsu went in to change and to collect his ‘toy’…
“Let her go right now!” Jaejoong thought that it was brave of a frail girl to be standing in front of an Ace Killer and demanding for him to release his hostage.
“She drugged my family.” Jaejoong smiled at the girl.
“I said, let my people go right now!” Genie persisted.
“Why are you guys attempting to poison East Rising Gods? Not only us, but innocent ones like Ri In as well…” Jaejoong returned her demand with a question. Frustrated, Genie reached into her pocket for an arrow…
“No, you don’t!” Junsu roared, running up behind Genie and pinned her onto the ground. “Hye Jin?” spotting the tied up servant, Junsu looked at Jaejoong with a questioning look. Grabbing hold of the chance, Genie kicked Junsu off her and climbed up. Junsu hurried to Jaejoong’s side, finally understanding what was going on. “So you are the one behind this?” Junsu aimed his gun directly at Genie. Without a warning, Genie shot an arrow towards Junsu’s hand which was holding his gun. Junsu yelled out in pain and collapsed to the ground.
“Xiah!” Jaejoong abandoned his captive and rushed to his brother. Genie moved swiftly towards Hye Jin and undid her ropes.
“So long, Hero and Xiah. It was nice meeting you, although I wish we could’ve met in another way…”
“U-know! Xiah has been shot with the arrow!” Jaejoong shouted into his blue tooth headset as he sped his car towards Yunho’s clinic.
“Why?! How is his condition now?”
“I doubt its that poison she used previously. Junsu is still breathing, but in a very bad shape. He keeps shivering and his face is turning blue!” Jaejoong went past another red light. Cars started to honk at him in protest for not adhering to road safety rules. Ignoring them, Jaejoong only has one thought on his mind. His one and only brother is in danger. He must save him.
Jaejoong paced up and down the corridor of Yunho’s clinic, anxiety killing him. He has just called for Micky and Changmin to rush over. Taking another step out, he allowed himself to fall onto the couch. The doors burst opened at the same time, running through it was Micky, Changmin, and… Ri In?!
“I think it is necessary for Ri In come along. She is Junsu’s wife. Plus, I think it’s about time she knew…” Micky explained.
“You’re out of your mind!” Jaejoong pulled him by his collar.
“Actually, I share the same thought as Micky.” Yunho’s calm voice said as he walked out.
“How is Junsu?” Ri In rushed up to him. All she knew was that Micky barged into her bedroom suddenly, telling her that Junsu has been poisoned.
“His condition is stable now. The poison was of a weak kind. I managed to concoct an antidote easily.” everyone heaved a sigh of relief as Yunho broke the news. “What is more important now is to tell Ri In the truth…”
“Did I tell you to poison them?” back at their headquarters, Hye Jin wasn’t having it easy either. Genie had her tied to a rack which hung in midair. It was their gang’s way of forcing an answer out of someone. The heavy metal doors opened, and a row of heads bowed down. Spinning around, Genie bowed slightly. “Boss.” she greeted.
“Still haven’t got an answer out of her?” the Boss settled himself comfortably in a chair and lighted a cigar. “You’re my right hand man, I trusted you so Hye Jin… why did you do such a foolish thing?”
“Answer! You know what will happen if you don’t. Do you have a death wish?” Genie shouted at Hye Jin in frustration. Her partner for many years was now being tied on the rack referred to as the ‘confession stage’. She cannot imagine what is going to happen next if Hye Jin does not answer.
“You have always been the brainy one in this gang, not much of a killer. What made you want to poison them?” Boss asked again.
‘Why did you steal my poison to poison them? Answer us!” Genie cried.
“Simply because I wanted to avenge my sister!” Hye Jin finally gave a reply. “I overheard what Kim TaeYeon told Jang Ri In the other day. Kim Junsu raped my sister!” Hye Jin was hysterical. “He raped my sister, the one whom I thought has died many years ago!”

i ended up updating LD more frequently that WT now -.-
i guess its because i'm posting LD on wl as well, and i update there everyday thats why~
