“You’re putting her life in danger by calling in the ward!” Madeline shouted at Hankyung.
“I insist on calling.” Li Yin’s voice quavered. “Junsu.”
This was it. Hankyung punched in the numbers and held his mobile phone by Li Yin’s ear. “Junsu, where are you?” Li Yin felt her tears brimming again when she heard Junsu’s voice. He sounded so distant, so far away from her. There was complete silence, and she heard something close to a sigh. “Li Yin, we’re over. Don’t you understand? Don’t call me anymore.” Li Yin felt her chest tightening, her breathing becoming labored. The monitor beside her beeped loudly as it showed how the frequency of her heartbeat is dropping drastically. Madeline pushed Hankyung away and pressed the emergency button immediately, proceeding to check on Li Yin. “Hankyung, I told you NOT to call in the ward!” furiously, she had Li Yin pushed out of the ICU ward into the nearest available operation theatre with the assistance of the nurses who had filed in.

Junsu felt his heart being wrenched tightly as he hung up the call. Li Yin sounded so weak over the phone. Is it because she hasn’t been eating well after he left? Picking up the framed photograph of he had taken with Li Yin before he left, he wished for time to rewind itself. Return to the past, the first day he met her. He want to stop himself from falling in love with her, he want to stop all the heartache they are going through right now. Of course, he knew this is impossible.

As soon as Madeline stepped out of the operation theatre, Mr Jang rushed up to her. “How is Ri In? is she okay? You mustn’t let my precious die!”
“I know. That’s why, we’ve to keep this other thing from her at all costs. When she was sent here, she has been diagnosed to have suffered a miscarriage. She is very lucky she survived from what seemed like a very serious car accident. You’ve seen how bad her injuries are. Thankfully for advanced technology, we can reconstruct her face as soon as she is better. As for her legs, I believe she’ll be able to walk with a bit of therapy.” Madeline shook her head at the fate of the poor girl. Hankyung snapped his head up to look at Madeline when he heard the word ‘miscarriage’. Li Yin is pregnant?! So whoever this Junsu is, he left his pregnant girl to fend for herself?! “Junsu…” Hankyung said through gritted teeth. “You’ll get retribution for letting something like this happen to a girl like Li Yin.”

“Yoochun, I have the gut feeling that something has happened to Li Yin. Call Junsu’s assistant now and ask him if Li Yin made it to the airport!” Ye Seul demanded. Being curious as well, Yoochun picked up his phone to call Mr Kang. Standing beside him nervously, Ye Seul felt her heart pounding hard against her ribcage. Yoochun’s face turned black instantly, his eyebrows furrowing together. “She did not go to the airport. Mr Kang says that he hasn’t seen her…” the hand holding onto his mobile phone slid down slowly. “But before I hung up this morning, she IS going to the airport!”
“I just knew it! Something’s happened to her!” Ye Seul shouted and waved her injured finger before Yoochun. “Let’s go to her place now! Hopefully, nothing has happened…”

“Ri In, open your beautiful eyes to look at us.” Mr Jang rubbed his hands around one of Li Yin’s, hoping to provide some warmth to his daughter’s icy cold hand. Li Yin’s eyes fluttered open as if on cue, her large eyes looking soulless and empty. “Precious, you’re awake!” Mr Jang exclaimed happily. Hankyung sprinted to Li Yin’s bedside when he saw her waking up, dropping the packed dinner he just brought on the floor. A flicker of emotion ran through Li Yin when she saw Hankyung. Perhaps it was because he is a Chinese as well. He gave her a sense of familiarity as well as a sense of security. “Han G- Kyung.” she was about t address him by his mandrin name when she changed her mind. “Hello, I am Jang Ri In.”

“Li Yin! Li Yin!” Ye Seul barged into the Zhang’s household. Yoochun followed closely behind her, keeping a lookout for Li Yin too. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a trembling ‘object’ near one of the bushes. He motioned for Ye Seul to stop shouting as he tiptoed to the trembling figure. “Zhang Xiong!” Ye Seul roared despite Yoochun’s attempts to silent her. The figure snapped up to look at the pair, a mix of fear and horror on his face. “Dead…” he muttered. “I pushed her onto the road…”

“Zhang Xiong, what have you done to Li Yin?” being the calmer person currently, Yoochun took up the role of interrogating Li Yin’s abusive father.
“Pushed her onto the road, she died… blood everywhere, I ran…” the man clasped both his hands together and got into begging position. “Please don’t turn me in to the police. I didn’t do it on purpose!”
“Why did you push Li Yin? Why?!” Ye Seul flung herself towards him, pinning Zhang Xiong on the floor as she tried to beat the man up with her tiny fists. Yoochun grabbed hold of her busy hands and pulled her off Zhang Xiong. “Let me go! He killed Li Yin!” Ye Seul struggled to be freed of Yoochun’s grasps. “He don’t deserve to be living on this world!” Ye Seul sunk her teeth deep into Yoochun’s hand and pushed him away. Clutching onto his bleeding hand, Yoochun cursed as he dragged Ye Seul towards his car. “Clam down! You’ll be jailed if you kill him!” Yoochun tried desperately to pacify the suddenly-very-unladylike-and-rough Ye Seul.

Bursting into tears, Ye Seul hurled every single swear word she knew at Yoochun for pulling her away from Zhang Xiong. “That bastard killed Li Yin!” she shouted hysterically. Yoochun felt is heart being ripped into millions of tiny pieces seeing Ye Seul so upset. “Calm down, Seul. Calm down.” Yoochun stopped the car by the side of the road and reached over to embrace Ye Seul. Stroking her hair, he muttered comforting words by her ear. He could feel Ye Seul’s frail body trembling. Pulling her away slightly, he planted a kiss on her forehead. “Don’t brood over it, Seul… if she’s gone, we’ll have to respect the fact that she’s gone…”
