Yunho jumped out from behind the wall in time to see xiaoxi running from him. Glancing at his phone which read ‘Li Yin’ and back to xiaoxi’s running figure, he hesitated for only a mere second before making his decision. “Sorry, Li Yin. Xiaoxi needs help now, and bodyguards help people.”

Li Yin appeared worried as she redialed her bodyguard’s number. There was still no answer. “That’s weird… he’s very responsible… why isn’t he picking up his phone?” Li Yin made another attempt. Beside her, Junsu was totally absorbed in his own world, writing in his diary-liked notebook once again. Li Yin let out a frustrated sigh as she stuffed her phone into her bag. Junsu looked up at her with an eyebrow raised. “Yunho isn’t picking up.” Li Yin said without much of thinking.
“Yunho? I hope I’m not rocking the boat by asking this… but what’s your relationship with him? I mean, I see the two of you together all the time, and you guys transferred over together.” Junsu lowered his book slightly and made eye contact with Li Yin.
“Bodyguard. He’s a bodyguard.” Li Yin spun around and stormed off. She don’t like boys, including Junsu. Plus, he’s too much of a busybody.

Xiaoxi panted heavily, trying to inhale fresh air. Sports has always been not her thing. In fact, she stinks at all sports-related events. Leaning against the wall for support, xiaoxi felt the load of her bag being lifted off her suddenly. Spinning sharply to her right, she found Yunho carrying her bag with beads of sweat trickling down his face. “Return my bag if you don’t want bad luck! Haven’t I told you to stay away from me?” xiaoxi hissed and grabbed at the strap of her bag. Yunho avoided her in a single neat move and even managed to pat her head. Shocked, xiaoxi stared hard at this man who dared to touched her.

“Are you insane?! Get lost before bad luck befalls upon you!” xiaoxi shouted exasperatedly. All Yunho did was to shake his head firmly. “I know what happened. It wasn’t your fault.”
“You know nothing! I’m a jinx who brings bad luck, BAD LUCK! That guy is bleeding now because of me!” xiaoxi hollered a reply.
“I’d help you. I know you’re not a jinx. I believe in you, so you have to help yourself by picking yourself together. We still have a project to work on, if you remember.” Yunho returned the bag and strolled off before xiaoxi could register his words properly.

“Yunho! Where have you been?! Do you know how worried I was?” Li Yin exclaimed as soon as she caught sight of Yunho. Yunho bowed and apologised politely. Li Yin waved her hand, waving away his apologies. “Forget it. You’re a responsible person. If it’s something you’re paying attention to, it must be an important matter.” Li Yin smiled at him. Remembering something, she reclaimed her bag from Yunho and took out a chocolate to offer to him. Yunho returned the smile knowingly. Their chocolate.

“How dare you injure a student so severely that he is in the emergency ward right now?!” the principal roared when he heard Yunho’s story. Yunho has done something crazy, something which he shouldn’t interfere in. He told the principal that he was the one who injured the guy with the light bulb. “But sir, I did it to save a female classmate! She was being teased by the group.”
“That’s no excuse.” the old man looked at him sternly. “You’re expelled.”
“Sir-” Yunho was about to rebuke when the doors slammed open. The secretary rushed in after the intruder, bowing repeatedly to the principal and to Yunho.
“You can’t expel him.” the intruder ordered. “He must not be expelled.”

Xiaoxi looked at Yunho straight in the eye, fury written across her face. “The person he wanted to save was me.” she stared at Yunho. “He risked his life saving me, so you mustn’t expel him.” all the while she spoke, her eyes never left Yunho. Yunho didn’t understand. He was helping her by confessing to something he did not do. Unexpectedly, the principal acceded to her request, even standing up shake her hand. Yunho felt even more confused as he watched the two make some grand greetings to each other. From their exchange, he caught hold of something interesting and new to him. ‘Could it be… her father the director?’

Grunting, Yunho moved the heavy mannequin back to its original position after giving it a good wipe. Despite having gotten away with expulsion, he was still punished to serve as a warning. “I told you I’m bad luck…” a soft voice whispered beside him.
“It’s not you. I was the one who told the principal I injured that guy. It’s only right I get punished then.” Yunho turned to face xiaoxi. Xiaoxi sighed and lowered her head.
”If you don’t want bad luck, stop meddling in my affairs.” xiaoxi stood up and shuffled her feet towards the door. “And before I forget, please keep my family background secret.”

Yunho dropped the rag he was holding and stood up immediately to chase after the disappearing figure of xiaoxi. “Wait! I don’t understand!” Yunho shouted after her. “Why don’t you let everyone know that your father is the director? They wouldn’t dare to-” his sentence was cut short when xiaoxi spun around and stormed towards him.
“Just keep mum about it! And lower your volume!” xiaoxi leaned towards him and hissed. The both of them bore into each other’s eyes, oblivious to the other students who had noticed how close the new student was to the jinx.
