Sighing as he took down the key points written on the whiteboard, Yunho turned slightly to look at the sleeping beauty beside her. Li Yin’s even and rhythmic breathing distracted him greatly. Thinking about her screams for help he had heard last night, a sigh escaped from his lips yet again. His original partner has been absent for quite some time, and under Miss Chu’s agreement, Li Yin got to sit with him as long as xiaoxi is absent from class. However, instead of feeling more at ease since she got to sit with her bodyguard, she felt nervous and afraid for some reasons. Nightmares of the past frequented her a lot more than usual as well. ‘Could it be… because she’s sitting in xiaoxi’s seat? Jinxed seat?’ Yunho found himself thinking about the absent jinx. Shaking his head, he returned his gaze to the whiteboard.

Sitting in the last seat of the long columns of tables in the library, xiaoxi had her head buried in her music books and her hood over her head. She’s always the only patron of the library at this time. Everyone else are having their classes afterall. Picking out the key points in a line, xiaoxi highlighted it. She is used to self studying in the library. Unless absolutely necessary, she seldom sat in the class for lessons. To her, self study is the most effective and safe way to study. Pushing up the sleeve of her long sleeved cardigan, she took a quick glance at her watch. Ten forty-five. Almost time for her studio lessons at eleven. Picking up her scattered stationary quickly and quietly, she packed her bag and shuffled her feet unwillingly to the studio.

A whole lot of ruckus was made as the class proceeded down the corridor towards the next building where the studios were located. Li Yin stifled a yawn. Bad dreams were the cause of her inattentiveness in class. Thankfully for her, she can always rely on the notes Yunho has taken down. Smiling at him, Li Yin felt someone bump into her suddenly. “Sorry.” Junsu muttered and looked down again, scribbling furiously in his book. Li Yin has noticed the book to be something he carries around all the time. It seemed like a diary of some sort. “Li Yin? Li Yin, why are you spacing out?” Yunho waved his right hand before her.
“Nothing. Let’s hurry before lessons start.” Li Yin flashed a reassuring smile and pulled Yunho behind her.

“We’ll be commencing on this year’s music project soon. As usual, you’ll have to be in pairs for this project. Your partners in class would naturally be the most suitable partner for this project.” Miss Chu said as she distributed the relevant notes. Yunho and Li Yin exchanged quick glances. Would they be partners, or would they each partner Junsu and xiaoxi? Just then, Yunho spotted the familiar figure at the back of the studio, biting on her lower lip nervously as she browsed through the paper. “Li Yin, I think it’s be better to stick to our partners for this.” he didn’t know what made him say that, but he just did.

Making his way towards Li Yin, Junsu pushed his slipping glasses back into its position. “You’re new here, so I guess you’d probably be needing a lot of help from me.” Li Yin frown at his words. He seemed to be looking down on her capabilities. Crossing her arms, she wanted to rebuke him when she thought better. ‘Cool down, Li Yin. A guy is not worth wasting your saliva for.’ Li Yin picked up her music file and smirked. “I think you would be the one asking for help instead. I’ve been playing the violin for as long as I can remember.”
Junsu raised an eyebrow at her. “I’m been with the piano since I’m born.”
Glaring at each other, neither wanted to step down and admit defeat. Li Yin felt her blood boiling, taking what Junsu said to be a challenge. “Fine. We’ll have a battle. After school, right here.”

Making his way slowly towards his project partner whose head was still lowered, Yunho wanted to smack himself. He could’ve just went ahead and paired up with Li Yin, yet he went forward with his original partner. “Hey. Guess we’re partners for this project now. We’d probably be hanging out a lot.” Yunho tried to put on a friendly smile. The jinx lifted her head slightly before pulling the hood over her head. She shook her head, still chewing on her lower lip. “We’ll do a part of the research each. Afterwards, I would compile everything. As for the self-composed song, maybe we could talk over the phone or something during discussions. It’ll be better for you to keep your distance from me.”
Yunho felt frustrated. How are they supposed to composed any decent music together if they do not know each other well enough?

“Li Yin? Where are you going with your violin?” Yunho eyed the box Li Yin was carrying.
“A music battle. I haven’t had a battle in ages.” Li Yin replied, absorbed in trying to locate her most confident piece amongst her thick file. Yunho shook his head knowingly. Whoever is Li Yin’s opponent had better be good. Otherwise the person might be so dejected after hearing Li Yin’s music that he would give up on himself altogether. Li Yin is a violinist so rare with tons of medals and trophy at home to prove her worth.

Fingers dancing lightly on the keys of the piano, Junsu hummed a soft melody. He was a song he had written sometime back. A song written with Guigui. He was the pianist and Guigui the vocalist. “Eternal love, we’ll never be separated. Even if we can’t rewind the hands of the clock, we would still be able to freeze time at this moment. Eternal love, it is etched in my heart…” Junsu’s humming turned into singing. He felt his heart aching badly. He missed Guigui. But then again, when did he not?
