Yunho wandered around the school blankly, waiting for Li Yin’s call to announce the victory of her battle. As luck would have it, he walked into his partner as he lowered his head to look at his watch. Xiaoxi yelped as she fell onto the ground, her belongings flying in various directions. Yunho grunted as he pulled her off the floor. He had to exert force, for xiaoxi was obviously resisting his help. “Be good!” he snapped. “I just want to help!” he felt the load ease immediately. Xiaoxi was accepting his help and climbing off the floor. Dusting her pants, xiaoxi quickly bent over to pick up her scattered books and papers. Reaching for her stuff, she did not notice the other hand who was reaching for the same book. Her hand brushed past Yunho’s. Inhaling deeply, xiaoxi gasped and stood up with her stuff gathered in a mess. Bowing to Yunho for a reason he does not know of, xiaoxi scampered off like a lost kitten.

“Nice song,” Li Yin’s voice rang out as she walked towards Junsu. “but not good enough.” Junsu’s closed eyes opened instantly and turned towards her. Shrugging, he stood up. It didn’t really matter to him anymore whether the song was perfect. What’s the meaning when the owner of the song is long gone? As Li Yin took out her beloved violin, Junsu raised an eyebrow. “We’ll do Forever Love. Is that okay with you?” Li Yin smiled. Junsu nodded his head in agreement and took his seat once again before the piano. Slowly, he started to play as Li Yin pulled away at her bow. The melody started softly and beautifully at first, then slowly escalated into something fast and fierce as the two pit themselves against each other.

Junsu inhaled sharply as his fingers finally left the keyboard. It has been long since he met someone of his caliber, someone who could fight against him. Li Yin breathed heavily as well. Anyone who didn’t know what was going on could’ve easily mistake them for people who just returned from sports class. Li Yin replaced her violin in its case gently and turned back to Junsu. “You’re a worthy partner.” Li Yin took the initiative to break the silence first. Junsu merely nodded slightly. “You too. I’ll be looking forward to our project.”

Yunho twirled his body sharply according to the beat of the music. “Purple line, let me set up my world…” he was so concentrated in his song and dance that he did not notice the girl who was looking at him through the glass door of the dance studio. Xiaoxi nodded her head as she listened to his singing through the slightly ajar door. Yunho was preparing himself for the final pose when he caught xiaoxi’s reflection on the gigantic mirrors that covered the four walls. Rather half-heartedly, he struck his pose as the music in the background died down. Spinning towards the door, he found the intruder gone, and a pink post-it stuck on the door…

“Great dancing…” Yunho held out the paper in his hand as he laid himself down on the floor. “She could’ve just told me in person… now I understand how Li Yin felt.” letting go, he allowed the paper to flutter down beside him. Many questions were in his mind. Many questions about his partner, and their deceased classmate, as well as the class nerd. They seemed to be linked to each other, yet he could find no linkage. “Curiosity kills the cat. Just focus on being Li Yin’s bodyguard.” Yunho muttered a reminder. Draping his hand over his eyes, he attempted to block out the rays from the fluorescent lights, and his endless thoughts.

‘His dance is really great.’ xiaoxi thought as she drifted along the corridors absent-mindedly. Unknown to her, danger was just around the corner. The school bullies were here again. As soon as xiaoxi rounded the curve, she felt her books being snatched out of her hands and her bag taken from her. The ‘leader’ of the group advanced upon her, an evil smirk on his face. “I hear you’re the jinx in our school. I’d like to have a taste of your wrath. Is it really as deadly as rumours had it?” meanwhile, xiaoxi kept on retreating. Just as the man was about to lay his dirty hands on her shoulder, a fluorescent light bulb fell from its position above them, hitting the man squarely in the head. He yelled and clutched tightly onto his bleeding head. Gathered around him were his bunch of friends, afraid and amazed at the same time. “I’m sorry!” xiaoxi shouted loudly as she picked up her stuff which have been abandoned on the floor. “I’m sorry!” with that, she took off as quickly as her legs would take her.

Yunho sprung up from his position on the floor. He thought he heard a commotion nearby. Slowly heaving himself onto his feet, Yunho swiftly made it to the corridors in time to see his partner dashing past him, and a casualty somewhere up front. His bodyguard instincts told him that there has been a fight of some sort, and the one who caused this heaving bleeding is none other than his partner…

Bent over, xiaoxi tried to calm herself down. It has happened again - something bad, something she didn’t want to happen. Legs slowly giving way, she looked dazed as she allowed herself to sit heavily onto the ground. A hand trailed up unknowingly to her shoulder which the bully almost got to touch. Tears started to stream down her face. “Jinxed… jinxed…”

Walking anxiously along the corridors, Yunho searched for the familiar figurine of xiaoxi. He knew that the one heavily injured was the guy, but somehow he also knew that xiaoxi must be terrified. Picking up speed, his sneakers squeaked against the smooth flooring. He heard something close to a soft sob, but it was so muffled and lasted for only about a split second. He couldn’t be sure. In case the person behind this corner was indeed xiaoxi, Yunho found himself walking near tiptoes. Just then, his mobile phone let out a shrill ring and vibrated in his pocket. There was a gasp, and the sound of fast running.
