“I met Li Yin at the orphanage. I was just taken in by the orphanage at that time when Li Yin came. I soon learnt from a few ‘seniors’ there that Li Yin was adopted, but returned to the orphanage for some reasons. I didn’t think too much of it at that time. The only chance I got to see her was on the day she returned to the orphanage. Since we didn’t meet after that, I soon forgotten about this girl…” Yunho took a sip at the tea xiaoxi prepared. Sitting opposite him was xiaoxi, listening to him so intently that her own cup of tea was left untouched. “One afternoon when I was playing with the other kids, I chanced upon her again when I ran after the lost ball. She was crying, and in her hand was a chocolate. I went up to her, wanting to ask why she was crying. Oddly enough, her tears stopped immediately when she saw me. Even more astonishingly, she smiled.”

Li Yin held onto the chocolate tightly as she cried. She dreamt of her adoptive brother again. The beast who tried to force himself on her. And her adoptive father who abused her adoptive mother from time to time when she didn’t give him money. “It’s over now… I’m safely away from them now. Why am I still crying then?” Li Yin wiped away her tears roughly with the back of her hand, but the tears never seem to want to stop. Whimpers leaked as more of her tears spilled out. Suddenly, she felt something nudging her feet gently. Looking down, she saw a ball by her feet. A boy came huffing and puffing, apparently looking for the ball. Li Yin didn’t know what took over her, but her tears simply ceased to stop flowing and a smile hung upon her lips…

“I became friends with Li Yin after that. I got to knew of her hatred for males, and found out about her talent for the violin. Li Yin plays the violin really well. She told me it was her mother who taught her how to play the violin. Such a pity that her parents passed away when the airplane they were on went out of control and fell into the sea…” Yunho sighed. Xiaoxi nodded, not wanting to press him for more information. She had enough to digest as it is. Glancing at the clock, xiaoxi nearly jumped up from her seat. “School!” grabbing randomly at whatever was laid before her, xiaoxi appeared to be in a frenzy. Yunho chuckled as he watched the girl pick up the remote control only to put it back down, then pick up the magazine. Looks like he found out about her little secret. The calm and composed jinx isn’t all that calm and composed after all.

Thanks to Yunho’s superb racing skills - well, it wasn’t really an average drive considering that he was speeding - the trio managed to arrive for lessons on time. The class’ sight never left the three as they stepped into class together. Perhaps it was the dress on xiaoxi, a red off shoulder. Li Yin was the one who insisted on her wearing a dress to school, and a red one at that. Yunho contributed by slinging the protesting girl over his shoulder and stuffing her into the passenger’s seat. Fidgeting nervously, xiaoxi stared at the pair of stilettos Li Yin lent her to ‘complete the look’. “Why are you stoning here? Let’s go to our seat!” Yunho jabbed her in the elbow for her to get moving. The class erupted in an even louder gasp at the interaction between them. Xiaoxi swallowed hardly before making her way to her seat. All these while, Li Yin’s eyes never left one place. The place she shared with her nerdy partner.

“Well, Junsu called in sick today. Anyone who is kind enough to bring him his work?” Miss Chu waved a few sheets of paper in the air. Not a single soul in the class moved. Slowly, Li Yin’s hand inched upwards. Miss Chu gratefully walked towards her and handed her the papers. “Thanks for the hard work then! Class is dismissed for the day!” Miss Chu clapped her hands happily. However, no one in the class was as cheery as her. Everyone is filled with doubts about the relationship between Junsu, Yunho, Li Yin and xiaoxi. When did they grow so close to each other? Not only were they the only ones confused. Yunho’s eyebrows were scrunched together. ‘Since when is Li Yin so open to guys?’

----------

After ringing the doorbell a few times and having waited for nearly five minutes, Li Yin grew impatient. Knocking on the front door lightly, the door creaked open. “He didn’t even lock the door?!” Li Yin exclaimed in disbelief. Having sat beside him for a few weeks, she realised that Junsu is a very careful and meticulous person. “Junsu?” she called out as she walked into the dark apartment. Shaking her head, she immediately went over to pull open the curtains in the living room. Rays of sunlight rushed into the place, lighting it up considerably. Li Yin just placed her bag down when she heard a soft groan nearby. Spinning around, she saw Junsu lying on a corner beside the couch, curled up and shivering.

Li Yin finally relaxed her tensed muscles after making sure the medicine has taken effect and Junsu is in a deep slumber. Closing the door lightly behind her as she left the room for him to rest, the shining object on his desk caught her attention. Pushing the door open again slightly, she tiptoed over to the desk despite knowing that Junsu is too drowsy to wake up even if she blew the trumpet. On the desk lay a silver dolphin pendant, hanging by a chain. Glancing at the pendant and then back at the chain, she is suddenly curious about his past with Guigui.

Voluntarily cleaning up Junsu’s house for him, Li Yin discovered lots of photographs of a same girl scattered all over the place. Some photographs were taken with Junsu. “Must be Guigui… she’s pretty cute actually.” Li Yin commented as she browsed through the pictures. In every photograph, Guigui smiled so widely, so care-freely. Honestly speaking, Li Yin is jealous of her. Of can anyone possibly seem so happy? Gathering the photographs into a neat pile, Li Yin placed them on the coffee table only to see the opened document on Junsu’s laptop…
