Chapter 22: Because it’s You
Suggested song/music: You - Twenty4-7

“Hey, our lessons are starting!” xiaoxi protested as Yunho dragged her out of the classroom block and towards the next building where the various studios are located. Yunho remained tightlipped about what he is planning on doing. Xiaoxi shook her head and simply fastened her pace to catch up with him.

“Let’s practice that dance I’ve been teaching you. Show me how much you’ve improved.” Yunho dumped their belongings in a corner of the dance room and placed a disc into the CD player. Without as much as giving xiaoxi a chance to speak, he pushed her towards the middle of the room, facing the mirrors. Rolling her eyes, xiaoxi admitted herself to fate and obediently moved according to the rhythm of the music. Yunho settled himself on the wooden floor and nodded his head as he watched on. He smiled at some parts, and frowned at others. By the time xiaoxi was done with the dance, he has already identified the parts which they would be practicing over and over for today.

Humming the music which she has arranged with her violin, Li Yin realised that somehow, it fitted in nicely with the song Junsu wrote. It wasn’t preplanned, they had no discussions about it, and yet the song and music seemed to flow together flawlessly. Junsu seemed to notice it too, and felt a strange feeling of… blissfulness. Does this explain the meaning of a phrase which many people believe in?
‘If it’s not you, it’s not right.’

“Lunch break is ending soon. Yunho and xiaoxi has been missing ever since the first lesson. Where are they?” Li Yin felt slightly uncomfortable at the thought of her bodyguard being away from her for such a long time. She felt unsafe. Suddenly, Junsu placed his arm around her shoulders and pulled her close. Revealing his pearly whites as he grinned at her, he whispered by her ear. “Don’t worry, I’m very good at protecting ladies.” Li Yin shivered and pushed him away. Junsu chuckled and held onto her hand despite her objections. He hasn’t felt this carefree in a long time. It feels good to be finally able to return to his old self. The Kim Junsu who is attractive and confident - and perhaps just a tiny bit overly confident of himself - sure of his goals and makes full use of his talent. Occasionally offends people with his words, and a little too cheeky and cocky for his own good, but this is the real Kim Junsu.

“Let me rest and grab a bite! I’m tired and hungry from dancing the whole morning!” xiaoxi whined. Perhaps she didn’t notice. Perhaps nobody did. Xiaoxi has been changing ever since Li Yin and Yunho entered her life. Her ‘sudden release of unluckiness’ occurred far and few in between unless she really willed for something to happen. In fact, her life has gotten much calmer and peaceful. And this delighted the spirit from above. Sitting on the edge of a cloud, Guigui swung her feet forwards and back as she observed the last thing which was holding her back - xiaoxi. She bent over and laughed heartily when she saw how xiaoxi whined and begged for Yunho to release her for lunch. It has been really long since she saw xiaoxi acting herself as well. Now that xiaoxi is slowly moving on, she is finally free of her bounds…

Yunho shoved the burger into his mouth hungrily. It wasn’t an easy job trying to perfect xiaoxi’s every move. Taking a sip of his soda, he washed down the dryness of the bread piece. Seated opposite him, xiaoxi stifled her laugher as she watched the grown man eat like a five-year old. He didn’t even notice the mayonnaise on the corner of his lips. Picking up her napkin, xiaoxi reached across the table to wipe it off for him. Everything seemed so natural, the way she simply reached for his lips to wipe off the mayonnaise for him. Yet, it seemed so awkward that the two have gotten this close.

Awkwardness from earlier on still lingered as the two headed back for the dance room. Xiaoxi kept her eyes fixed to the ground, whilst Yunho pretended to be interested in the paintings hanging along the walls of the corridor. “Uh… why are you training me so hard anyway?” xiaoxi offered to break the ice.
“It’s the dance I’ve choreographed for our project. We just have to write the lyrics to the song now, since I’ve got the music nailed too.” Yunho explained.
“What?! You choreographed the dance even before we managed to churn out the song? What if it doesn’t fit?” xiaoxi stopped walking and turned to stare at him bewilderedly.
“Well, we’ll just write the song to fit the dance!” he replied matter-of-factly. Jung Yunho’s odd way of working, xiaoxi finally had a taste of it.

Leaning against one of the desks as he waited patiently for Li Yin to be done with packing her bag, Junsu started whistling to keep himself entertained. His whistling slowly evolved into singing when he got bored with plain whistling. The few female classmates who were still in class started to squeal and whisper amongst themselves about this ‘new classmate’ who was obviously one of the rare, extinct species named ‘hot guy’. Junsu chuckled and blew a kiss their way as he walked past them with Li Yin. Li Yin stood rooted to the ground for a brief second before quickly regaining her composure. The new Junsu came too suddenly, and acted too differently from the Junsu she used to know. This Junsu is so different that she’s starting to feel a change in the atmosphere between them.

Li Yin had another shock of her life when she saw the car Junsu claimed to be his. It differed largely from the car she saw previously. This convertible before her right now is a vibrant neon green in colour. Since when did Junsu own such an eye-catching vehicle? Junsu smiled politely as he held open the car door for Li Yin. She hesitated, but eventually got into the car. She thought that the car would be the end of all the surprises she has gotten today. She thought wrong. Li Yin’s piercing scream could be heard as Junsu sped down the road in his car. “Since when did you like speeding?! Slow down before I puke!”
