Watching Zai Zhong drive the unconscious Yu Bin and the worried Chang Min to the hospital in the city, Jun Xiu felt overwhelming guilt gnawing at his conscience. Should anything happen to her, not only would the three family - namely his family, Yu Bin’s family, and Chang Min’s family - blame him, he would not be able to forgive himself either. Xuan Na staggered over to him with Min Zhi and Wen Xuan’s help and delivered a slap across his cheek. “What were you thinking? We nearly lost our lives because of you!” Xuan Na shouted while pointing to You Tian who almost got knocked over. Jun Xiu quietly accepted the accusations thrown at him. He knew what he did was unpardonable. “Let’s get away from this place first.” You Tian eyed the sea and shuddered. Min Zhi immediately led the way to the Kim mansion…

You Tian and Xuan Na accepted the cup of warm tea gratefully from Wen Xuan, sipping it to calm their nerves. It is their first time in the mansion - in fact, their first to be even within the compound. Xuan Na finally understood why Jun Xiu has to be chauffeured around. The mansion was sited a long distance from the village, and since he is this rich to live in a mansion, obviously he could afford a chauffeur. ‘Which rich man drive by themselves anyway?’ Xuan Na scoffed as she placed her empty tea cup on the coffee table. Glancing around, Xuan Na noticed that every piece of furniture was intricately designed and definitely expensive. Admiring the drawing hanging on the wall, she found herself lost in that piece of land.

“At least change into something dry.” Min Zhi repeated her sentence over and over again like a broken tape recorder. She even resorted to drying his hair personally, but Jun Xiu remained still as a statue. His eyes empty and dull, his breathing was so light that it seemed as if he wasn’t breathing at all. Min Zhi shook him roughly by the shoulder. “Get your act together, you’re a man!” Jun Xiu shove her hand away and turned to face her with his back. The ringing of the phone startled everyone when it started echoing through the tranquility of mansion.

Xuan Na and You Tian were finally left alone in the living room when Wen Xuan went to answer the phone. Eyeing her stepbrother curiously, Xuan Na scooted closer to him and leaned against his shoulder. “Aren’t you going to give me an answer? I’ve already told you how much you mean to me.” Xuan Na tilted her head upwards and gazed into his eyes. Looking back into her eyes which seemed like a bottomless pit swallowing him, You Tian realised that he is falling deeper and deeper for Xuan Na. Now that she has openly confessed to him, he can no longer keep his own emotion in check. Just as he was about to reply her, a loud gasp and the sound of something falling onto the ground broke his train of thoughts.

Wen Xuan got everyone’s attention when she dropped the receiver. Rushing down the stairs were Jun Xiu and Min Zhi whilst You Tian and Xuan Na hurried out from the living room. Eyes clouded with tears, her legs gave way as she collapsed on the floor. “Zai Zhong called to say that Young Mistress didn’t make it… Her parents have been notified so they can fly over to prepare her funeral…” Jun Xiu felt the air around him thinning. Gasping for oxygen, he inhaled and exhaled deeply whilst his hand clutched over his chest trying to ease the pain.
I don’t deserve to live. Someone as frail as me should be the one dying. How on earth did I kill another human being? I killed Yu Bin… I destroyed her happiness…

“Zai Zhong also said that the village is in a pandemonium now. He wants Mr Pu and Miss Jin to remain in the mansion for the time being. The villagers are planning to punish the both of you for being in love because it is morally wrong…” Wen Xuan quickly passed the important message. Xuan Na gasped and turned sharply to You Tian for help. They are both in hot soup now. How did the villagers find out?

Being the alone person who is still clear-headed enough to give coherent instructions, Min Zhi accessed the situation. “The mansion is far from the village. Even if the villagers make it here, it is impossible for them to search the whole place, therefore making it the best hideout. Furthermore, it should be at least two days before any of the parents from our family to fly over since they have a lot of handover to do. We should be able to come up with something by then.” If not for the seriousness of the issue right now and his troubles, Jun Xiu would’ve leapt up in joy for being able to live under the same roof as his crush. Observing how Xuan Na would look at You Tian helplessly and hang on to his hand, Jun Xiu got the drift. It is impossible for anything to develop between himself and Xuan Na, because she only has eyes for You Tian, who happens to reciprocate her feelings. He has no chance in this.

“Impossible! Yu Bin can’t possibly leave me behind! Save her or I’ll tear down this hospital!” Chang Min hollered at the hospital staff who have gathered. Beside him, Zai Zhong tried his best to hold onto the outraged beast who might carry out his threat any minute. “Cool down! Didn’t you say you’re studying to become a doctor? Then you should know that it is impossible to bring the dead back! Let go of Yu Bin, she is in paradise now…”
“Love isn’t about finding someone you can live with, but someone you can’t live without. I can’t live without Yu Bin!” Chang Min struggled and broke free from Zai Zhong’s grasp. Embracing the lifeless lady on the bed, Chang Min swallowed the lump which is forming in his throat. “I am nothing without you, Yu Bin. I beg you, please just open your eyes and return to me…”
