Chapter 2: An Act

“Jaejoong-ah, listen to my explanation! I was forced to marry her, I didn’t do it willingly!” Yunho desperately tried to catch Jaejoong’s attention. Jaejoong turned his head in the other direction, fuming. Regardless of what Yunho said, he still got married. What about the promises he made towards him to stay with him forever? He even went against his family for Yunho, and yet betrayal is what he gets in return? “Jaejoong, please.” Yunho pleaded with sincerity written across his eyes. Jaejoong merely took a glance and the wall he built around his heart crumbled at once. Embracing the man, Jaejoong nodded his head gently. “Alright, tell me what happened. I’ll listen.”

Yunho confessed about how he had no clue about ending up beside Sohee, and how he had no collections whatsoever of doing anything with her. “She forced me to be responsible towards her. I was forced into this marriage!” Yunho grabbed Jaejoong’s hands and held them to his chest. “You believe me, right? I must’ve been drugged, otherwise I will never be caught in bed with a woman! I love you, Jaejoong…” Jaejoong nodded his head silently. Today is not the first day he knew Yunho. He understands the man inside out. Yunho would never go to bed with another woman while he is in a relationship. He is not the sort of man to even have one night stands. “I believe in you.” Jaejoong uttered the magical words which had Yunho’s heart assuaged.

Dumping her luggage on the bed in the master bedroom, Sohee sat down with a frown. Recalling how Yunho had shoved her into the house and closed the door on her when she fell, Sohee’s fist clenched tightly shut. “Kim Jaejoong, how dare he seduce my husband. I’ve long heard rumours about them being the Yunjae couple during DBSK days, but he can now forget about it. I will never share my husband!” Sohee said through gritted teeth, seething. Just as she was about to make her way to the bathroom, she spotted the picture frame on the bedside table. It contained a picture of Yunho and Jaejoong hugging each other and smiling brightly. Grabbing the frame, Sohee sent it crashing down onto the floor roughly. Glaring at the shattered glass, Sohee took a deep breath before landing one of her legs on the glass shards.

After sending Jaejoong back to his apartment, Yunho sped back to his house, determined to force the truth out of Sohee. However, his heart stopped for a split second when he saw the scene before him. Sohee is lying on the ground in pain, blood spilling from her sole… “Are you okay?!” he rushed over immediately to help her onto the bed. “How did it happen? I‘m sending you to hospital right away!” Sohee shook her head weakly as beads of perspiration trickled down her forehead. Tugging on the corner of his top, Sohee looked at him with pleading eyes. “Not the hospital… I hate hospitals. Just disinfect my leg for me. Please?” Yunho relented seeing the tears that were about to fall. After making sure that there are no glass shards stuck in her wound, Yunho meticulously disinfected her wound and bandaged it. As Sohee looked at her busy husband, a blissful smile crept onto her lips…

“I fell and sprained my ankle when you pushed me into the house. After making it into the room, I lost my footing because the pain was simply unbearable and unintentionally toppled over the picture frame. I wanted to salvage the photo but accidentally stepped on the glass shards instead.” Sohee stole glances at Yunho with her head hung low. Yunho heaved a silent sigh before massaging his temples. Instead of being able to get an answer out of her, he’s now guilt ridden because he caused her injury. “I’m sorry. I was too rash.” Yunho apologised for his actions. Sohee flashed a warm smile at him and reached for his hand. “If you’re really sorry, then treat me better to make up for it!”
Yunho could only nod his head in agreement. ‘It is my fault after all…’

After making sure Sohee fell asleep, Yunho got out of bed to look at the photograph which is now missing a picture frame. He caressed the surface of it with a heavy heart. ‘If only this is Jaejoong’s actual face I’m caressing now…’ Yunho sighed and kept it safely into the drawer of the beside table. Turning his attention back to his sleeping wife, Yunho felt his head pounding. She appeared in his life without warning and messed up his life like a tornado. He has to do something about their marriage if he wants Jaejoong to believe in him. However, judging by the current situation, it is impossible for him to drive her out - not when he caused her injury. Messing his hair in frustration, Yunho allowed his body to fall back against the comfort of his pillow and bed.

Looking at his mirror reflection, Yunho frowned at the sight of the dark circles below his eyes. Although he was tired, he barely slept a wink last night in order to maintain a distance between him and Sohee on the bed. Glancing at the wedding band on his ring finger, Yunho sighed deeply. He is now caught between his guilt towards Jaejoong and Sohee, and currently he has no plan in mind on how he should move next. Whichever way he decides, he will have to sacrifice one party. Running his fingers through his hair, Yunho groaned in frustration. “How did things get this complicated?!”

Humming as she prepared breakfast, Sohee beamed at how she has successfully gotten rid of the photo which was such an eyesore and how well Yunho will probably be treating her because of the injury he ‘caused‘. Two plates of sandwiches in hand, Sohee limped towards the dining table. “Be careful! Why are you making breakfast when you’re injured?” Yunho shouted and swiftly grabbed her by her shoulders. Sohee made use of the chance to lean over and planted a kiss on his cheek. A sweet smile playing on her lips, she placed the plates on the table and picked up the carton of milk. Focused on pouring the milk, she did not notice how Yunho frowned at the breakfast she has prepared. “Sohee, you don’t have to prepare breakfast. I prefer rice for my meals, and I know it’s tedious to cook up a meal. I can eat out for breakfast.” upon hearing his words, Sohee wanted to smack herself. She forgot most Koreans have proper meals - which consists of rice - for breakfast. Watching Yunho munch on the sandwich she prepared, Sohee made a mental note to perform even better…

Taking a quick glance across the table, Sohee nodded in satisfaction. She had spent the whole afternoon preparing a spread to make up for her mistake this morning. However, her patience soon grew thin as the hands of the clock covered the clock face a couple of rounds and yet her husband is still nowhere to be seen. “Looks like I’ve wasted my efforts cooking this meal.” Sohee picked up the untouched dishes and binned the contents. Annoyance visible in her eyes, Sohee knew very well where her husband can possibly be. “Kim Jaejoong.”
