Chapter 3: The Scheming Heart

Empty-stomached, Sohee sat on the couch waiting for her husband to return home. She has not eaten a single thing after having sandwiches for breakfast, but she isn’t hungry right now. Not when she’s filled with anger. Her patience grew short as time crawled by. ‘When is Kim Jaejoong ever going to let my husband come home?’

“Yunho-ah, why not you sleepover here tonight?” Jaejoong suggested while drying the dishes. Yunho was about to agree happily at the suggestion when he remembered his newly wedded wife who is still waiting for him at home. Jaejoong knew something was bothering his lover immediately when silence reigned for a few minutes. Sighing, he kissed him goodbye on the cheek. “Go home, I know you’ll feel guilty.” Yunho turned Jaejoong around and hugged him from the back, resting his chin on Jaejoong’s shoulder. After coming so far with Jaejoong, he really loathed the appearance of Yoo Sohee. Had she not appear in his life, he would be able to lead life blissfully with Jaejoong. Although the parents on both sides are against their relationship, he has confidence that they will be able to convince them with their love. But with the arrival of Sohee, everything is now much more complicated. Especially if his parents find out. He will have to find a way out of this marriage before word gets out.

After seeing Yunho out the door, Jaejoong slumped against the wall lifelessly. He always had the feeling that Yunho never did fully belong to him - be it when they were friends during their trainee days in S.M Entertainment, or when they progressed into lovers during DBSK. And now with Sohee in the picture, he isn’t certain of emerging out of this knotty relationship as the winner. There’s something about Yunho that he can’t grasp. Even though Yunho has always been the perfect lover to him, there is something missing, something that makes Jaejoong feel uneasy. Deep in his heart, he always felt he did not own the whole of Yunho’s heart…

Sohee smiled sweetly at Yunho as he walked in, offering to carry his bag. “Why are you so late today?” she tried to appear as nonchalant as possible. “You haven’t told me what your current occupation is. You left the house this morning while I was doing the dishes and I didn’t have a chance to ask you.”
“I’m a dance coordinator and dance instructor at Mirotic School. I don’t really have fixed working hours, so you don’t have to wait up for me next time if it’s late. You can turn in first.” Yunho walked into the bathroom attached to their bedroom. Putting down his bag, Sohee wondered if she has been thinking too much after all. Perhaps he is indeed busy at the school today. About to laugh at her own silliness, she noticed Yunho’s mobile phone vibrating on the bed. Hovering over the phone, she saw the caller id and felt her temper rising again. ‘Kim Jaejoong, why can’t you just leave Yunho alone!’

“Yun, you left your wallet at my place! Drop by my place tomorrow morning! You can come earlier and I’ll prepare delicious breakfast for you. After which we can go to work together~” Jaejoong chattered excitedly once the call was put though. Sohee remained tight-lipped as she listened to the man’s thrilled voice from the other side of the line. When Jaejoong finally realised something was amiss, he called out Yunho’s name cautiously. “My husband is taking his bath right now. If you don’t mind, I’ll go over to your place now and pick up my husband’s wallet.” the hand wrapped around Yunho’s wallet loosened immediately when Jaejoong heard Sohee’s voice. Quickly picking the wallet off his carpeted floor, Jaejoong mumbled his address for her.

Rubbing his temples, Jaejoong scowled at his failed plan. He had taken Yunho’s wallet on purpose when he wasn’t noticing. All he wanted was to have his first meal of the day with his loved one. Glancing at the wallet lying on the couch beside him, Jaejoong wondered how he should act around Sohee later. Should he firmly ask her to leave Yunho? Or should he claim that he is just a close buddy of Yunho? But in any case, if she takes away the wallet now, then his plan would be ruined. Did she see through his plan? Looks like she is far more conniving than he had imagined her to be.

After leaving a note for Yunho stating that she’s going out, Sohee flagged the first cab visible and headed for Jaejoong’s place. ‘Yunho lied to me. He claimed he had work, but he was actually having a secret rendezvous with Kim Jaejoong.’ Sohee appeared calm, but her mind was hurling abuses towards Jaejoong. ‘He must’ve taken Yunho’s wallet on purpose so he could ask him over for breakfast tomorrow. Going to work together? Could it be they work at the same place? If that’s the case, they’ll probably be having dinner together after work. Is this going to happen everyday? I’m not going to take this lying down. I will not let Kim Jaejoong get in my way! Kim Jaejoong, under that innocent face of yours is actually a devilish, scheming heart!’

“Where is Yunho’s wallet?” Sohee stretched out her hand expectantly. Jaejoong dropped the leather wallet into her hand with a scowl. “Don’t look up my husband anymore. I don’t want people to start talking bad about Yunho. He is married now. Furthermore, the two of your can’t possibly be together. You’re both guys.” Sohee decided to cut the chase and directly tell him to leave. Jaejoong stoned for a moment, shocked at how she is acting so insolently towards him. “If I’m not mistaken, I’m older than you, so you should be speaking to me in formal speech. Secondly, I met Yunho before you did and we are currently dating. You are the third party in this relationship, not me. You should be the one leaving because Yunho’s heart-” before he could finish his sentence, Sohee delivered a slap across his face. Looking at him haughtily, Sohee rolled her eyes and went off before Jaejoong could register what just happened.

Caressing his flawless cheek which now stung because of the slap, Jaejoong found the whole scene amusing. So amusing that he felt nauseous and outraged. How dare she slap him. Who is she to be slapping him and warning him? How can she act so arrogantly when she was the one who stole Yunho from him? Jaejoong’s fingers slid down from his cheek and formed a tight fist. Looks like she has to be taught a lesson the hard way…

When Sohee got back home, she tiptoed into the room quietly, carefully not to wake her husband who is sound asleep. Placing the wallet in his bag, Sohee then proceeded to change into her nightgown and got on bed. Grabbing the opportunity, she daringly leaned against his toned chest and wrapped her arms around him. A satisfied smile hanging on her lips, she drifted off too…
