Chapter 4: Seeking for the Truth

Sunlight spilled into the room and shone brightly across Yunho’s face, waking him. He felt a body leaning against his and for a split second, he forgot he was married and thought the person was Jaejoong. Hugging back tightly, Yunho closed his eyes again intending to sleep in. “Good morning, Yunho!” a gentle voice greeted him. Jolting up in bed, Yunho stared at Sohee and cursed himself mentally. How could he possibly mistake her for Jaejoong? Rubbing his nape nervously, Yunho jumped off the bed quickly and made a run for the bathroom.

After calling to take the day off, Jaejoong drove steadily towards his destination - the hotel which Yunho told him about, the hotel which started the disastrous marriage. There should be CCTVs lined around the hotel, crucial evidence which speaks the truth of what really happened that night. Jaejoong started tapping his fingers against the steering wheel impatiently whenever a red light pops up. He can’t wait to set his lover free from the clutches of Yoo Sohee.

Watching the screen intently, Jaejoong kept his eyes peeled in case he missed the vital moment. Beside him, the security guard kept complaining about him being a nuisance. “You must’ve made a mistake. There were no abnormal occurrences on that specific night. I was on night shift watching all the screens, and I’m very certain about that.” just as the guard finished his sentence, Jaejoong spotted a body all too familiar to him. Jabbing at the screen, Jaejoong hollered for the man to zoom in on Yunho. “He was practically dragged in! Yunho is totally unconscious!” Jaejoong studied the face of the man who had Yunho’s arm slung over his shoulders and concluded he has never seen him before. “Please give me a copy to this part of the tape.”

Tapping away at the keys on her laptop, Sohee had a gentle smile playing on her lips. This is the first publication after she returned from Japan. Although her books are always bestsellers in Japan, she’s still nervous about debuting in Korea. To commemorate such a special occasion, she decided to write about something distinctive in her life - her first love. As she ran through her memory to put down the scenes as detailed as possible, she found her smile growing wider and wider. “The young and innocent first love…” Sohee giggled and clicked on the save button. Pushing the laptop away, she walked towards the window to take a break from reminiscing. Just then, an ominous feeling enveloped her as lightning flashed across the sky which darkened rapidly…

“Chang Min-ah, just find me the man carrying Yunho in this tape and I’ll treat you to whatever you want to eat. Unlimited meals!” Jaejoong offered desperately to the tall and slender man called ‘Chang Min‘, otherwise known as the best detective in Korea and Jaejoong’s ex-band mate from DBSK. Hearing the rewards which he wanted, Chang Min snatched the CD out of Jaejoong‘s hands and developed a crystal clear photograph focused on the man’s face. Immediately sending it to all of his workers - which is scattered all over the globe and have hidden identities - Chang Min grinned lopsidedly at Jaejoong. “Hyung, be prepared to bleed out your wallet!”

Walking into the restaurant, Yunho wondered what’s the special occasion. Jaejoong seldom arranged for them to meet in restaurants since he has a passion for cooking while Yunho has an obsession for Jaejoong’s home cooked meals. To add to the mystery, Jaejoong instructed him to sit nearby but stay unnoticed. Spotting Jaejoong immediately, Yunho tilted his head curiously when he spotted another man with him. Settling at a table which he decided fits Jaejoong’s orders, he could hear his lover’s conversation with the man…

“Spill. Why did you take unconscious Yunho to the hotel?”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“This CD has you filmed clearly. If you confess, not only will I let the matter rest, I will give you a lump reward too. But if you choose to keep mum, I guess I’ll have to see you in court for dragging a unconscious man into a hotel. You not only ruined his life, you ruined mine too.”
“C-court?! I was only acting under Yoo Sohee’s orders! I’m innocent!” the man nearly shouted in agitation.
However, this was not all Yunho wanted hear. Storming over to Jaejoong’s table, Yunho settled into the seat beside Jaejoong and glared menacingly at the man. The intent warning stare was more than enough to force the truth out of him.

Jaejoong glanced briefly at Yunho whenever he came to a red light. The stern look in his eyes meant business and his fists were tightly clenched. Precisely because he knew Yunho too well, he had offered to drive the man back home, just in case he ends up getting his driving license evoked for good after speeding across the streets and scaring the living daylights out of passer bys. Focusing back on driving, Jaejoong had a little celebratory dance in his mind for unveiling Yoo Sohee’s scheme. At the same time in Yunho’s mind, however, all he wanted to do was to wring Sohee’s head off her neck for interfering with his perfect love life.

“Yoo Sohee! Come out right this instant!” Yunho hollered as soon as he stepped into his house. “Yoo Sohee!” barging into their shared bedroom with a loud slam of the door, Yunho held a fixed stare at the sleeping figure. Following closely behind him was Jaejoong, afraid that Yunho might really strangle Sohee as he had threatened to while they were in the car. Even if Sohee has done wrong, Yunho would go to jail for killing her and it’s not worth it. “Calm down, Yunnie…” Jaejoong’s gentle voice soothed Yunho’s nerves slightly. Stirring in bed, Sohee rubbed her eyes as she woke up to all the ruckus they have been making. “What’s going on?”

“You best have a proper reason for making up this absurd story to get married to me.” Yunho tapped his feet impatiently.
“Do I need a reason when I love someone?” Sohee raised an eyebrow. “Don’t you want to get married with the person you love? What did I do wrong?”
Jaejoong frowned at her answer. Love? What does she mean by that? He knew Yunho for years and he has never heard of the name Sohee. Since when did they meet and fall in love? How can a one-sided crush be love?
“You are wrong when you force someone to get married to you!”
