Chapter 6: In-Laws

Massaging his throbbing temples, Yunho nodded and replied politely to his mother who has been nagging constantly over the phone for the past hour. He stifled a yawn and was shaking his head to try to prevent himself from falling asleep when he suddenly jolt awake. “W-what?! You’re coming over with appa now? Wait, umma! Wait!” Yunho shouted as he stared at his mobile phone after his umma hung up on him. Groaning in frustration, he quickly grabbed his bag and dashed out of Mirotic School, not noticing Jaejoong as he ran past him. Looking at Yunho’s back view, Jaejoong wondered what has cropped up to cause him to be so frantic.

Cursing at the traffic light, Yunho wished that his glare and turn the light green. “Shopping, movies, anything! I have to get Sohee out of the house before appa and umma arrive!” usually a law-abiding citizen, Yunho is struggling to curb his urge of jamming his leg on the gas pedal before the light turns green again. Cutting off the engine as he pulled the car to a stop before his house, he swiftly grab his belongings and scurried into the house, shouting loudly. “Sohee!” Sohee lifted her head from her laptop and glanced around the room. “I must be daydreaming… how can Yunho be home at this time…” shaking her head, she turned her focus back to writing. Just as she was hitting the save button, a series of knocks at the door sent her jumping.

“Sohee, grab your coat! Take this money and go shopping with it or invite your friends to a movie!” Yunho hurriedly pulled her up from the chair and went to the closet to grab a random coat. Looking at him all flustered, Sohee crossed her arms and grinned. “Are you coming with me? If you’re not shopping with me, I’m not going. If you’re not the one watching a movie with me, I’m not going too.” she settled comfortably back into her chair and continued typing. “Furthermore, I have a deadline to meet.” Yunho looked at her with his eyes widened. He should’ve known it would not be so easy getting her out of the house.

Ruffling his hair in frustration, he sat on the edge of the bed and tried to convince her. “Just go out and have fun! You’re always at home ever since we got married. Go out and get some fresh air!” Silence was Sohee‘s answer, leaving only the tapping of her nails against the keyboard to cut through the silence. Never feeling so perturbed and anxious before, Yunho completely lost his ability to think properly. “Sohee, please. Take it as I’m asking for a favor. Just get out of the house!” seeing how troubled he seem to be, Sohee was going to agree when the doorbell rang.
“Crap.”

“Yunho-ah, what took you so long to answer the door?” Mrs. Jung walked in straightaway when her son opened the door. Following in was Yunho’s father, scrutinizing the interior of the house. Seeing how it looked tidier and neater as compared to his last visit, his father silently heaved a sigh of relief. Ever since his son moved out, his wife has been nagging all day about Yunho’s health, whether he is eating his nutrients and if the house is organized. Pulling open the refrigerator, Mrs. Jung exclaimed in surprised. “Yunho-ah, did you learn how to cook? You actually went grocery shopping!” she beamed excitedly at her son. “What dishes do you know how to cook? It’s important to eat healthily since you’re living alone. Why don’t you just move back so umma can take care of your health better?” she started going through the refrigerator, looking at what her son has in it. Not paying attention to his mother, Yunho kept glancing up the stairs just in case Sohee came downstairs. Noticing his odd behavior, Mrs. Jung followed his gaze up the stairs. “Is there someone upstairs?”

Opening the door slightly, Sohee poked her head out and took a glimpse. Seeing that there is nobody around, she stepped out of the room and made her way to the staircase. ‘Who is here? Why can’t I step out of the room? Did Jaejoong come over?’ Sohee frowned at the thought of her enemy. Just as she rounded the corner to step down the staircase, Sohee screamed as she nearly bumped into the man coming up. Grabbing him quickly, she steadied the both of them before anyone fell. “Omo! Why is there a lady here?” Mr. Jung studied her closely. Hearing the commotion, Yunho who was trying to explain to his mother spun around and darted out of the kitchen. Closely following was Mrs. Jung. “What lady? Yunho-ah, you’re hiding a lady in your house?” Yunho uttered a curse in his mind as he took the stairs two steps at a time.

***

“What?! Married?!” Mr. Jung shouted agitatedly. “You punk! You didn’t even tell us that you’re married!”
“When did you get married? Was it because it’s a rush wedding that’s why you didn’t have time to inform us? Could it be because… is Sohee pregnant?” Mrs. Jung grinned as she held onto Sohee’s hands tightly and chattered on excitedly. “Sohee-ah, thank you so much for marrying our Yunho! He’s so stubborn at times that even I feel like disowning him, but what can I do? He’s my son after all. I‘m glad there‘s a lady that can stand our Yunho to marry him and set up a family together.” Sohee smiled sweetly at Mrs. Jung, nodding as she listened.

Mrs. Jung kept complimenting Sohee as she watched her chopped the onions and diced the capsicum expertly, “Yunho is so lucky to marry you! You’re so good at cooking, it must be in the genes. Your umma must be a great cook too! Let’s arrange a day to meet your parents!”
“My blood related umma was really good at cooking. But my biological parents had passed away. My adoptive parents are in Japan and always up to their neck with work. Perhaps that‘s why I mastered the art of culinary!” the smile never left Sohee’s face although she was talking about something that must have caused her immense grief. Studying Sohee, Mrs. Jung felt that Yunho have really gotten himself a rare gem. Her son has always been obstinate by nature, so his spouse would have to be someone who is also strong in character to stand firm her ground yet gentle enough to avoid getting into conflicts with Yunho. It seemed to her that Sohee makes a fantastic daughter-in-law.

“You punk, how could you get married without letting your family know?” Mr. Jung glared at his son although he was secretly feeling pleased. He is furious about his son’s undisclosed marriage, but seeing that Yunho has finally settled down has set his mind at ease. Yunho hangs out with Jaejoong so much that it worried him when Yunho announced that he is in a relationship with Jaejoong. Of course he had to oppose to his only son being gay. And that’s when Yunho decided to move out, causing even more headache. Now that his son is finally married, he can stop distressing over his son.

***

“So how did Yunho propose to you? Was it romantic? Was there a large audience witnessing?”
“Umma, just eat before the food gets cold.” Yunho quickly interrupted.
“Well… it’s kind of embarrassing but I actually forced Yunho to marry me. He didn’t seem to want to get married and I don’t want to wait any longer.” Sohee smiled sheepishly. Yunho turned to her sharply and quickly lowered his head to eat.
“Luckily you took the initiative! Otherwise I’ll probably have to wait until all of my hair turn grey before he is willing to get married.” Mrs. Jung kicked Yunho’s leg under the table. “You sure are focused with eating. I know Sohee’s cooking is great, but aren’t you going to pick some food for your wife?” Yunho struggled to keep his sigh from escaping. Seems like his parents really like Sohee. How is he going to get divorced easily now?

A/N
I really dont understand why I didnt post up this chapter earlier. I actually completed this chapter a long time ago! I even wrote an A/N for this chapter but I havent posted it up =.=
Here's what I originally typed for A/N -
I wish I can make Mrs. Jung more fun, but I had to consider Yunho’s character too xD
I’ve been watching Playful Kiss and Baek Seung Jo’s umma is really fun to watch, that’s why I wanted someone with this character in Bad Woman as well! I totally adore the bond between BSJ’s umma and Hani! xD
Enjoy chapter 6!
